The Best
Western Kodiak Inn is located by the downtown district of the City of Kodiak,
close to sport shops, gift shops, the Native Alutiiq Museum, the Russian
Baranov Museum, and St Paul's Harbor. Great attractions in the Kodiak area
include tidepooling, hiking and military history at Fort Abercrombie, sighting
whales, sea lions and birds on sight seeing charters, fishing the great
ocean waters for halibut and salmon, and fishing the rivers for the seasonal
salmon runs. The rivers are great for fishing red (sockeye) salmon late
May into June, pink (humpback) salmon late June through August, and silver
(coho) salmon late August into October. And we can't forget the Grizzly Bear that Kodiak is famous for--there are many charter flights to take bear viewers close enough for great pictures of the magnificent creatures. Many guests stay at the Kodiak Inn and continue on further to a remote lodge or camp site for fishing, hunting or bear viewing. |

The Best Western Kodiak
Inn is at the entrance of town from the Kodiak Airport. The hotel is approximately
six miles from the airport and two blocks from the Ferry Terminal. As
the City of Kodiak is on the Northeast end of Kodiak Island, the only
two ways to access the island is via ferry or plane! Either way you travel,
the sights are beautiful from mountain and glacier viewing on the hour
long flight from Anchorage, or wildlife viewing on the ferry trip from
Homer. |
